2021 ANZSOC Postgraduate & Early Career Researcher Conference – NOW ONLINE
The local host organising committee, in consultation with the ANZSOC Committee of Management, has decided that the Postgraduate & Early Career Researcher Conference (PECRC) will be held online. This is consistent with the decision to host the ANZSOC Conference online, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
We had hoped to create one day of in-person contact for the postgraduate and early career group, but based on feedback from members and colleagues, this will allow for easier attendance at both programs and avoid any last-minute changes.
The main PECRC program will run online from 9am-12pm on Tuesday 7 December. Attendees will join a series of professional development and mentoring workshops. Indicative topics include advice on writing for publication and translating research into policy impact. A link to access a Zoom session will be provided upon registration.
Attendees are encouraged to submit a digital poster, which will be considered for the Monash University Postgraduate Prize. These will be shared with all attendees prior to the conference. Voting for the prize will remain open until 1pm on the day of the conference.
Attendees are welcome to attend the PECRC and submit a poster, in addition to attending and presenting at the ANZSOC conference.
At 1pm, after a break for lunch, the winner of the prize will be announced and the host organising committee will give a brief concluding address.
The organising committee invites state-based representatives to organise local events on campus for the lunchtime (12-1pm) and afternoon sessions (1:15pm onwards). This hybrid model will allow for a common professional development program, but give postgraduate students and ECRs the opportunity to present in person and socialise with their peers.
We encourage local representatives to develop a program of lightning talks or longer presentations in the afternoon, as well as lunchtime and post-conference social events.
Attendance at the online event will be free of charge. A registration link will be sent out shortly, followed by a call for posters.
We look forward to seeing you online at the 2021 PECRC.
