Perceptions of the treatment of juveniles in the legal system

The interaction between police and juveniles has been a source of increasing concern in the United States. This research will examine legislation and policy and the relationship between juveniles and police. The current research will examine juveniles’ involvement in police-youth programs, the frequency and type of contact with police, their attitudes and perceptions of police, and their knowledge of legal rights. This presentation focuses on some preliminary findings concerning the relationship between juveniles and police. Results and implications for practice will be discussed.
