Crime is a universal phenomenon that constitute a big problem to most societies today. In Nigeria, crime rate and wave have been in a perpetual increase despite every efforts put in place by the authorities to prevent and control it. In fact, if more effective measures were not urgently taken to curb it, the future consequences may better be imagine than real. The main objective of this paper is to use secondary data to analyze crime situation in Nigeria with the view to suggesting an effective solution to the problem. The paper argued that modern technology like the GIS can be a more effective measure for crime control and prevention in Nigeria today. The paper also made some far reaching suggestions as panacea to the problem of crime in today’s world.
