Dr James Martin

Dr James Martin is Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University. He is an international authority on cryptomarkets and the dark web drugs trade, and has published two books, as well as numerous quantitative and qualitative journal articles on this topic. This research has produced significant impact outside academia, and was cited in the trial of Ross Ulbricht (aka Dread Pirate Roberts), administrator of the infamous cryptomarket Silk Road. Dr Martin is a founding member of the Cryptomarkets Research Hub, an international and multidisciplinary research network focused on the online illicit drugs trade. His research has been funded by The Australian Institute of Criminology and the National Health and Medical Research Council.
