Dr Rosalie Gillett is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the QUT Node of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society and Research Fellow in the Digital Media Research Centre at QUT. Rosalie’s research lies at the intersection between online gender-based violence; automated decision-making systems; and platform governance. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, she investigates women’s experiences of online harm and safety and digital platforms’ self-regulation practices, particularly examining what data platforms need to build automated tools that enable their users to feel safe. In 2020, she was awarded a Facebook Content Governance grant to interrogate how Facebook users circumvent the platform’s content moderation policies. Rosalie was nationally recognised as a leading early-career thinker and communicator being awarded an ABC Top Five humanities media residency in 2021. Her work has been published in high impact journals including Feminist Media Studies, Policy and Internet, and Women’s Studies International Forum.
